[S1E14] Bad, Bad Fairy

The series takes place in the fictional seaside town of Storybrooke, Maine, in which the residents are actually characters from various fairy tales that were transported to the "real world" town by a powerful curse. This episode centers on Leroy and his fairytale counterpart, "Dreamy", one of Snow White's seven dwarfs.

[S1E14] Bad, Bad Fairy

In the Enchanted Forest, a clumsy fairy, Nova (Amy Acker), dreams of becoming a fairy godmother and escaping her day job: fairy dust carrier. When she begins her trip, a bit of dust falls onto the egg of a dwarf. As a result, the dwarf is born early, and seems different from his brothers. He is given a magic ax that names him Dreamy (Lee Arenberg). His seven brothers are Stealthy (Geoff Gustafson), Doc, Dopey, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, and Bashful. A year later, Nova is still collecting fairy dust made in the mines of the dwarves, when Dreamy recognizes her. He claims to have seen her in his dreams right before he hatched. After Nova accidentally places a bag of fairy dust on a conveyor leading to an incinerator, Dreamy saves it and becomes her "hero." Nova mentions that she is going to watch the fireflies hoping Dreamy will get that it is an invitation for him but he doesn't.

Lily Sparks of TV.com gave the episode a negative review and wrote, "Okay, I'm about to hit you with some truth: last night's episode of 'Once Upon a Time,' 'Dreamy,' was the worst this show had ever been. The opening was a siege of nightmarish information, including the revelations that there are no dwarf women and the permanently old dwarf men reproduce asexually by hatching out of eggs FULLY CLOTHED. And the horrible romance! Grumpy and Nova the 'clumsy fairy' were seriously bizarre characters, they both talked like six year olds and now I feel like I've condescended to six year olds, because even six year olds aren't this simplistic and idiotic.[7]

Unlikely allies Mary Margaret and Leroy team together for a good cause to help the Storybrooke nuns sell their candles during the town's Miner's Day festival. But Leroy makes a promise to a nun, Astrid, that he may not be able to keep; and Emma looks into the mysterious disappearance of David's wife, Kathryn. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, Grumpy finds forbidden love with beautiful but clumsy fairy Nova.[1]

In the Enchanted Forest, Nova is transporting a bag of fairy dust. The Blue Fairy is there and tells her it is very precious, as it is the entire year's supply. Nova wants to know when she will be a fairy godmother and is surprised to be told that she will not be for a long time. The Blue Fairy calls her a dreamer. A distracted Nova jostles the bag of dust and some of it falls from the bag, into the mine nursery, and onto a dwarf egg. A dwarf is seen hatching from the egg.

Nova is filling up a bag of fairy dust in the mines, but has trouble turning off the machine. Dreamy helps her turn off the machine, but the fairy dust almost ends up in the fire, before Dreamy manages to save it. He tells her that she would make a great fairy godmother.

Nova and Dreamy meet on the hill she points out all of the lights. He tells her that she is lucky that she gets to see the world and says that they should get a boat. The fireflies show up, and Nova kisses him saying they should meet back there the next night, after she has delivered the fairy dust, and they will sail away and see the world together.

Dreamy is leaving the dwarves. He tells them that he is in love, and he wants to be with Nova. They offer him his pick axe, but he tells them he does not need it anymore. Bossy shows up and says that he cannot leave, saying dwarves cannot love. The Blue Fairy shows up and backs up what Bossy is saying, and that it will not end well if they are together. She tells him that he would cost Nova her dream of being a fairy godmother.

Belle takes the opportunity to go on an adventure of her own, after reading so many in her books, and joins an expedition to hunt a fearsome beast known as the Yaoguai. Belle teams up with Mulan to track the creature, but Mulan becomes wounded and Belle must face the monster herself. Things take an unexpected turn when Belle discovers that the Yaoguai seeks help, and uses fairy dust to turn him back into his normal self, which turns out to be Prince Phillip. Phillip thanks her and leaves with Mulan, but unknown to them, Belle is abducted by Regina's forces and held as a prisoner until the Dark Curse takes them all away from the Enchanted Forest.

When Henry starts to get taken over by his Author powers, Regina confronts the previous Author, and finds out that it means that the final chapter, the final battle, is approaching. Regina manages to break Snow and David's sleeping curse, by diluting it across the entirety of Storybrooke, rendering it harmless. Regina and Zelena start bickering when Zelena decides to go after the Black Fairy, who is threatening Storybrooke. When Regina meets the Black Fairy, the latter seems to consider Regina a failure, not surprised that her Dark Curse broke so easily while under Regina's control. Regina is nearly killed by the Black Fairy, until Zelena runs the fairy over with her car. Regina attends Emma and Hook's wedding, until everyone present is consumed by the Black Fairy's black curse, which sends Regina, Snow, David and Hook back to the Enchanted Forest. They return to Storybrooke in time to see the Final Battle unfold, and the curse is broken. After, Storybrooke gives Regina a new title - Queen.

At David and Abigail's engagement celebration, Regina and her knights arrive at the ball. When Abigail sees Snow White, she reports it to her father King Midas, who tells Regina. Regina has her knights spread out, and they manage to catch Emma Swan. However, Emma manages to escape with help from Snow White, who herself becomes captured and tied to a stake. Regina attempts to kill Snow with a fireball, but Snow escapes Regina's wrath by using dark fairy dust on herself, temporarily turning into an insect and flying away. Regina becomes furious when she discovers that Snow is still alive and takes it out on the trolls, turning them into insects.
